Resume writing is marketing your skills, knowledge and expertise. One may find this idea a bit off beat, but it is a fact. Your resume is the very first marketing document, that reaches the recruiter and it is highly important to promote the best qualities in you. As hundreds of resumes are flooding the inboxes of the recruiters, your resume should be different than the other resumes. So that, the employer would have a look at it and you would get the opportunity to move one step ahead as far as job search is concerned. It is necessary to judiciously think of various aspects of the resume such as chronological sequence, length of the resume and improve wording in your resume etc. Your resume should be short but still should incorporate the relevant information in chronological order. Now when we talk about chronological order, it broadly can be arranged such as; personal information, objective, education, and tool knowledge; which is most probably applicable to IT professionals; then follow education, work experience and the detailed personal information. The chronological order should be carefully thought and followed, if you are writing the executive resume. The person at an executive level is of course knowledgeable, and the recruiter is keen to know about his experience and skill set. Sample executive resume would give you guidelines for writing the same. If the chronological order is considered as template to write the resume, the wording you use in your resume forms the body of the resume. Now the main body or content in the resume should be grammatically correct. The wording you use should be simple but should give a sight of your expressing or writing skills. What you write and how you write is fair enough for the experienced recruiter to judge the best in you, and similarly disqualify you for the job you have applied for. You have to monitor the tone of language, consistency in language e.g. you have to be precise while using gerunds and verbs. You have to stick to short and meaningful sentences, for which you can put up the information in small paragraphs and bulleted points. Many of the executive resume samples, administrative resume samples, director resume samples etc. are available on the internet. One may wonder if a person at such high position needs to search for the resume samples? Yes, the fact is that, many of them are extremely talented in their own profession, but are not good enough to document their talent. Once they get a hand of it, nothing like that. So the tips regarding resume writing such as how to improve wording in your resume, how to control length of resume etc. help to serve the purpose. After all writing is also one of the acquired skills that enhance your confidence level to a great extent. Author: Stela here to share some stuff regarding to resume building through this article.
